Frequently Asked Questions
Important Information for Second Opinion Requests
To process your request, it is necessary to provide a valid phone number and email address for your treating physician. This ensures proper communication with our team and medical specialists.
Should I choose a virtual second opinion or an in-person consultation?
If you don’t live near our Centers of Excellence in the U.S. or Europe or prefer the convenience of remote consultations, we recommend our virtual second opinion service, which allows access to specialists from the comfort of your home.
For cases requiring in-person care abroad, our team will coordinate your appointment with specialists at the best international medical Centers of Excellence.
Para casos que requieran atención presencial en el extranjero, nuestro equipo coordinará tu cita con especialistas en los mejores centros de excelencia médica internacional.
Does Medlink Connections offer second opinions for all conditions?
Medlink Connections works with specialists across a wide range of medical fields. However, we cannot guarantee the availability of a specialist for every condition. If we cannot assign a suitable specialist for your case, we will inform you promptly and refund any payments made.
We do not provide second opinions for patients currently hospitalized or in intensive care units (ICU).
How is the second opinion delivered?
The second opinion is provided as a detailed written report addressed to both the patient and their treating physician. This includes clinical analyses, recommendations, and possible treatment alternatives. At this time, video or phone consultations are not part of this service.
How does the second opinion process work?
- Submit your request: Complete the form with your diagnosis, questions for the specialist, and relevant medical information.
- Case preparation: Our team will review the information provided, gather necessary medical records, and select the most suitable specialist for your condition.
- Report delivery: The specialist will review your case and prepare a detailed report with their medical opinion.
How long will it take to receive my second opinion?
The timeframe may vary depending on how quickly medical records are collected. Once this step is completed, the report is typically delivered within 7 to 10 business days.

Currently, most health plans do not cover this service. Costs must be paid directly using a credit card or medical savings accounts like HSA or FSA.
What happens if I cancel my second opinion request?
